AOL Cuts Back

AOL will be cutting 2,000 jobs starting today. That’s about a fifth of the company’s workforce. According to the Wall Street Journal, AOL Chief Executive Randy Falco said that the realignment will “allow us to increase investment in high-growth areas of the company … while scaling back in areas with less growth potential or those that aren’t core to our business.” In a flip to the old model, AOL will be focusing more on selling advertising and less on the Internet access business.
